Emily: Maybe we should ask Mr. Thompson if he has an extra one.

Alex: That’s not a bad idea. Let’s go talk to him right now.

They both stand up and walk toward the door.

Scene 2: Mr. Thompson’s Office

Mr. Thompson is sitting behind his desk, reading a newspaper.

Emily: Hi, Mr. Thompson. Sorry to bother you, but Alex and I seem to have misplaced our key again.

Mr. Thompson: Oh dear, not another time! Have you checked under the mat? That’s where most people leave their spare keys.

Alex: Yes, we’ve looked there too. No luck.

Mr. Thompson: Hmm… Well, I do have a spare key, but it’s locked in my drawer. Give me a moment.

He opens a drawer and takes out a key.

Mr. Thompson: Here you go. Be more careful next time, okay?

Emily: Thank you so much, Mr. Thompson. We’ll be more cautious from now on.

They thank him and leave his office.

Scene 3: Apartment Building Entrance

Alex and Emily are back outside the building.

Alex: Phew, that was close. Another day without a place to stay would’ve been terrible.

Emily: True. But let’s make sure this doesn’t happen again. Maybe we should buy a keychain or something.

Alex: Good idea. A keychain could help us keep track of things better.

Emily: Exactly. And maybe we should also label the key with our names.

Alex: Right. No more losing keys for us!

They both laugh and head inside the building.
